Improve your Health and Race Times while Having Fun
We have a walking partner for you. We only ask for a smiling face and a wilingness to have fun and become healthier.
Inland Empire Racewalkers (IER) is an affiliated club of the Southern California Association of USA Track and Field SCA-(USATF). It was founded in 1986 by Mel Granttham and a visionary group of walkers. Members meet at Fairmount Park each Saturday morning and walk some of the most picturesque parts of the City of Riverside.
Our weekly trek takes through a park, by a golf course, around a lake, down a bike path , up a mountian, by a research station, through a historic neighborhood, on tree-lined avenues, by fragrant roses, up and down hills, and back to where we began. Hopefully each time we return, we are better for the journey.
Each May, IER hosts the 15K and 5K walks fo the SCA-USATF Racewalk Committee Grand Prix Racewalk Series. In 2012, this race will be USATF's National Open/Junior/Masters 15K Championship for the 3rd year in a row. It is also the Western Regional 15K Racewalk Championshp for USATF.
Both the races finish in front of the VFW Hall and the amphibious landing vehicle that rests at the water's edge.
